A difficult year... / Stephen Danner It has been just over a year since you left us.
I cannot stand the thought that you have been absent from our lives for what seems to be both a short time and an eternity all at once. The passing of a year has done little to temper the sadness and hopelessness I constantly feel...
The year of 2007 seemed to take forever to pass, then in December the year seemed to have flown by in a blur. I look back on this past year and the feelings of loss, sadness and desperation are so pervasive. I am so unorganized, so unmotivated to do anything of real consequence....
The tidal waves of emotions still come unexpectedly and often.
I am devastated.
I will never be the same person.
There will always be a place in my heart that will ache over your loss.
There will always be a small part of sunlight that does not wash over me in the summertime.
Every time I go near your room I want to go inside and sit on your bed or at your desk; sometimes I do, and sometimes I cannot bear to open the door.
I miss you so much buddy, I would give anything to just hold you again and hear your voice, see you smile, and hear you laugh. I listen for you at night when I cannot sleep and have done so almost every night since December 19, 2006.
I look forward to the year of 2008 with the hope that we can somehow come to terms with the finality of your accident; with hopes of moving forward some (even if it is only small steps) with life.
I love you Chris, I always will. You will always be in my thoughts and dreams.
